Praise to the God of Everlasting Steadfast Love (Psalm 106)

Main idea: In Psalm 106, we see that God’s steadfast love is everlasting and it teaches Israel, and the nations, to repent of our rebellion and plead humbly for his salvation that we might enjoy a place in his Kingdom and worship him forever.
Review the Record of Rebellion
a. Israel rebelled in Egypt (vv. 7-12)
i. Failed to remember his steadfast love at the Red Sea (Exodus chs 14-15)
b. Israel rebelled in the Wilderness (vv. 13-33)
i. Craved and grumbled at Kibroth-hattaavah (vv. 13-15, Num 11)
ii. Coveted and quarreled at Paran (vv. 16-18, Num 16)
iii. Created and worshiped an idol at Horeb (vv. 19-23, Ex 32)
iv. Complained and doubted at Kadesh-Barnea (vv. 24-27, Num 13-14)
v. Compromised and worship a false god at Peor (vv. 28-31, Num 25)
vi. Complained and quarreled at Meribah (vv. 32-33, Num 20)
c. Israel rebelled in Canaan (vv. 34-39)
i. Preserved an evil people’s lives (v. 34)
ii. Married an evil people’s children (v. 35)
iii. Served an evil people’s idols (v. 36)
iv. Sacrificed children to an evil people’s gods (vv. 37-38)
v. Polluted themselves and their land, and were spiritually adulterous to God (v. 39)
vi. Were given over to captivity (vv. 40-42)
vii. Were rescued from captivity (v. 43a)
viii. Went astray further (v. 43b)
ix. Were rescued again from captivity (vv. 44-46)
x. Yet are in need of his rescue again (v. 47)
Answer Three Questions the Record of Rebellion May Raise:
a. Does God still desire our praise at this point?
i. Yes. So worship confidently! (vv. 1-2, 48)
b. Does God still desire our obedience at this point?
i. Yes. So walk righteously! (v. 3)
c. Does God still desire to deliver us at this point?
i. Yes. So confess boldly (vv. 6-43)
ii. And plead humbly! (vv. 4-5, 44-47)
