Committed to the Great Commission (1 Timothy 1:3-7)

Main idea: In 1 Timothy 1:3-7, we see four great commission commitments so that we will help create, cultivate, and multiply healthy churches for the glory of God and the salvation of the lost.

  1. Planting Evangelistically (1:1-3, Acts 18:19-21)

    a. The need for planting (1:1-3)

    b. The means for planting (Acts 18:19-21)

  2. Cultivating Sacrificially (1:3, Acts 19:1-10)

    a. The need for cultivating (1:3)

    b. The means for cultivating (1:3, Acts 19:1-10)

  3. Protecting Carefully (1:3-4, 6-7, Acts 20:28-29)

    a. From different doctrine (1:3)

    i. that deceives (1:3, 7)

    ii. that distracts (1:4)

    iii. that departs (1:6)

    iv. that destroys (1:19)

    b. With sound doctrine (1:4, 10)

    i. that promotes the truth (1:3, 4, 5)

    ii. that edifies the church (1:6)

    iii. that trains in godliness (1:5, 10, 4:6)

    iv. that promotes stewardship (1:4)

    c. From false teachers (1:3, 7)

    d. By true teachers (1:3, 18, 4:11-16)

  4. Loving Sincerely (1:5, Acts 20:18-21, 36-38)

    a. From a pure heart

    b. From a good conscience

    c. From a sincere faith
